Liposomes are like little bubbles that are able to hold material that is beneficial to the skin and transport it to where it is needed. Using liposomes as a delivery system for the extracts and soothing products that your skin requires is more effective than just applying them topically. The lipids (fats) that make up the liposome also contain moisture, so when that bubble breaks, the skin also receives extra hydration from the liposome. Besides delivering moisture to the skin, liposomes also offer a protective barrier, as they trap moisture under the lipid membrane and seal the skin against external substances that would otherwise enter.
Oils and extracts are often composed of several different substances that bring about many different effects when applied to the skin. On the other hand, “mono substances” (mono = anything singular) are homogenous substances that are usually produced synthetically with high purity standards.

They are able to easily penetrate the outermost layer of the skin and then dissolve into their specific composition. The skin is naturally and constantly exposed to molecules of various size and substances, including table salt, which is SMALLER than 1 nanometer. It is important to pay attention to the particular substances that you apply to your skin, not focusing only on the size of the particle; for as you can see, table salt is an ion which is a microscopic nanoparticle, yet completely safe. dermaviduals® employs liquid biodegradable nanoparticles which are encapsulated in a natural ingredient that is found within our stratum corneum, phosphatidycholine. This nanoparticle opens onto the skin, allowing only the active ingredients to penetrate through the membrane, leaving the nanoparticle itself behind.
